Spring Plant Sale, Saturday, April 27th, 1- 3 pm, Farmers’ Institute

The SSI Garden Club is very happy to announce that the Spring Plant Sale is coming up at the end of this month.  The sale offers hundreds of plants propagated by the club’s members, all for sale at bargain prices.

There will be ornamentals as well as edibles, native plants, and houseplants. Some of the plants that will be available for sale include irises, forget-me-knots, hardy geraniums, Leopard’s Bane, violets, ajuga, bleeding heart, wooly lamb’s ears, campanula, perennial scabiosa, dwarf comfrey, sedums, dahlias, and much more.  Some of the edibles include hazelnuts, lots of strawberries, skirret, celery, eggplant, tomatoes, and peppers.

Chorus Frog Organic Nursery will be there with a nice selection of spring veggies and flowers. Also, Salish Sea Succulents will be selling their lovely, easy-to-care-for plants, with sales going directly to the Manu Children’s Shelter in Botswana. The third vendor will be Idle Wild Plants and Pantry, a new venture on the island. This nursery has a permaculture focus including native plants. These nurseries handle their own sales directly at their tables, so please be sure to purchase from them separately from the rest of the tables.

The sale is only 2 hours long, from 1 to 3 pm. Bring a box to put your plants in, and a few extra boxes, if you can, for someone else to use. Payment is cash, check or e-transfer only (no credit cards).

  1. Hi, I have a number of plants to donate to the sale and am wondering if there is still time to drop them off?
If so, where can I do that and what is the latest date to drop them off?
    Thank you,
    Sibéal

      Hi Sibeal,

Please bring your potted up plants, (labelled if possible) to the Farmer’s Institute on Saturday morning from 9:00-11:00. If you are not able to drop them off then, you could bring them there on Friday between 2:30-3:30.

      Thank you for your contributions!
      Milly Sinclair

      1. Thank you for your reply, Molly, I will get them ready for drop off on one of those days.
Do they need labels and prices ?
        Sibéal
